HOUSE ON THE HILLS
The House on the Hills is a California-style modern home located in the prestigious Hills of Kingswood community . Horizontal block massing is both visually and functionally organized by the use of strong planes. The front facade maintains its privacy while allowing thoughtful glimpses into the gallery, office and living areas within. A contrasting horizontal plane highlights the entryway. Visitors are welcomed inside with high transparency, warm wood accents and modern landscaping.
Upon entry, a strong sense of the home's surroundings is achieved through direct visual connection to the outdoors. Spacious living, dining and kitchen areas are gathered through the use of a vertical fireplace element. Full height windows grant complete access to outdoor living from public areas as well as the more protected master suite. Outdoor amenities include a sunken fire pit, full kitchen, and pool with spa. A full mother-in-law suite is also located on the first level. To address privacy needs, a courtyard creates natural separation between the main house and MIL suite.
The second level houses bedrooms, guest and game rooms, all gathered around a generous balcony with an exterior stair leading down into the home's centralized courtyard. In addition to added convenience, this fosters a clear sense of continuity between the two expansive levels.
At over 8,000 square feet, the home remains cohesive through deliberate uniting features and a simplified material and color palette. Neutral white stucco, wood soffits all trimmed with black elements let this home's thoughtful layout and resulting massing speak for itself.
